From one of the busiest Broadway casting offices in NY, Actors Connection is thrilled to have Peter teaching this ONE NIGHT ONLY Musical Theater Audition Master Class.

Peter joined Tara Rubin Casting in 2018 as a Casting Director. He is the recipient of two Artios Awards for excellence in casting.

His Broadway and National Tour credits include: The Heart of Rock & Roll, Six, The Phantom of the Opera, Tootsie, Head Over Heels, Angels in America, Farinelli and the King, The Cherry Orchard and The Band’s Visit.

Off-Broadway/New York credits include: Dead Outlaw (Audible Theater – World Premiere), Pal Joey (New York City Center), Whisper House (The Civilians), Sing Street (New York Theatre Workshop), Something Clean (Roundabout), The Beast in the Jungle (Vineyard).

For this Master Class, please prepare 2 contrasting 16 bar cuts and please bring your book as Peter may want to hear something additional.

The evening will start off with a Q & A, and then each actor will perform for Peter using your prepared material in a group format. He will coach, give direction and work your material over the course of the evening.

PLEASE NOTE: This class is limited to 14 ADVANCED Musical Theater actors.

Accompanist will be provided.

WHAT TO PREPARE:

For this Master Class, please prepare 2 contrasting 16 bar cuts and please bring your book as Peter may want to hear something additional.

  • Please update your headshot and fill out the MY INFO section of your AC account upon registration.

  • The room will be open 30 minutes before the event is scheduled to start. Please arrive at least 10 MINUTES before your event begins as your host will give important information about the event at this time.

Peter Van Dam

PETER VAN DAM, CSA – Peter is the recipient of four Artios Awards for excellence in casting. He joined Tara Rubin Casting in 2018 as a Casting Director, and previously was an associate at Jim Carnahan Casting / Roundabout Theatre Company.

Broadway: The Heart of Rock & Roll, Six, The Phantom of the Opera, Tootsie, Head Over Heels, Angels in America, Farinelli and the King, The Cherry Orchard.

For over three years he was executive assistant to the head of the talent department at Innovative Artists in New York. He assisted producer Ellen M. Krass on the film of Stephen Sondheim's Company at the New York Philharmonic, directed by Lonny Price. He also worked with Mr. Price on the documentary Best Worst Thing That Ever Could Have Happened, among other projects. Originally from Portland, Maine, Peter studied theatre at Walnut Hill School for the Arts and New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and holds a BFA in musical theatre from The Boston Conservatory.

He has taught classes and workshops at the New Studio on Broadway - NYU, Boston Conservatory, Ithaca College, Emerson College, CAP21, The Growing Studio, Broadway Workshop, Actors Connection, among others. He is a proud member of CSA and a Tony Awards voter.
