New! Mastering The Art of Self-Tape: 2-Week Online FILM/TV Class with Meghan Rafferty, Casting Director, M&M Casting

Wednesday, July 7, 2021, 6:30pm ET / 3:30pm PT

This event is in the past.

As Zoom continues to be beneficial for actors working on and auditioning for film and TV, SELF-TAPES are now the norm for initial on-camera submissions.

The rise of self-tapes has been one of the biggest shifts in the acting audition process over the past 5-10 years - a trend that has only accelerated in the wake of the pandemic.

But how do you know if your self-tapes are competitive with other actors?

Is your self-tape audition even making it to the casting director or getting deleted?

Are your self-tapes being watched completely or turned off in the first 10-15 seconds?

How can you improve your submissions to make sure they are being watched?

Learn the secrets to getting noticed with your virtual auditions and get more bookings with this new class.

Taught by casting director Meghan Rafferty, this 2-week class is designed to help you understand the casting director point of view so that you have the knowledge and insight to create the perfect self-tape submission from making the video to helping ensure it is seen.

In the first week of this class, you'll share a self-tape of your choice (2-3 page film/TV scene) for review.

Meghan will share with everyone what she feels is essential to filming self tape submissions: proper lighting, camera, sound/mic, background, framing, readers, wardrobe and more.

In week two, Meghan will assign everyone sides to prepare a self-tape with the adjustments and feedback from week one to share in class.

From taking this class, you'll learn how to create perfect submissions and what can make or break your self-tape audition!

What to Prepare:

For your first class, please prepare a self-tape of a 2-3 page scene of your choice that you feel best showcases your strengths as an actor. You can select a scene from the General Sides database (link located in your Actors Connection account upon registration), OR use your own 2-3 page scene. You will share this in class.

For your second class, Meghan will select sides for you to prepare in advance and self-tape based on your headshot and fully completed MY INFO section in your AC account. You will share this in class.

Please follow the procedures listed below:

  • Please update your headshot and fill out the MY INFO section of your AC account upon registration.
