New! Showcasing Your Brand & Your Brand's Brands - 5 Week Online Commercial Class with Brette Goldstein, Casting Director/Producer + 3 NY Commercial Agents

Wednesday, September 23, 2020, 2pm ET / 11am PT

This event is in the past.

This is not your typical class with industry guests at the end. Nope. There is a tried and true recipe for success here:

Unique, original, bespoke copy that reps have never heard before + Actors crushing said copy = Actors getting called in for meetings and getting signed

It works.

It begins by asking yourself what products you use and love. What solutions can you provide to everyday problems with the products in your home that make your life easier? Who would you talk to that could benefit from knowing about how a particular product or service worked for you? We will select and co-create copy that is exclusively your own. Copy for your brand’s brands. Next, we will polish it. Then we will showcase it to reps that are about to see how awesome you truly are. You’ll also have two pieces of copy that you can use in general meetings/auditions and/or post on the media page of your website or casting profiles on Breakdown Services, Casting Networks, etc.

Teach US how to cast YOU. Let’s figure out your brand and the brands your brand is passionate about.

A note from casting director/instructor Brette Goldstein on original, bespoke copy vs database material. "There is something that happens to us when we've heard copy (or scenes, for that matter) for the millionth time. We tune out a little. We play a game where we see if we remember the copy and say it in our heads while we should be listening. We’ve 'been there done that' with the copy. It’s old news. Most of it sounds dated. When we hear copy that is perfectly suited for the actor, as if it’s written for them, and something we’ve never heard before, we really tune in. We sit up and listen. We are drawn to new/fresh, innovative, smart material. It helps us see you, the actor, as new/fresh, innovative and smart. For me, I could go on and on about Oi Ocha Green Tea and Kevin Murphy Killer Curls Cream. Let’s find what gives you life and create some copy you can crush."

Week 1 - Brette discusses commercial technique, the commercial casting process, and helps actors select the options for copy that they have brought in. This is a collaborative class where everyone gives feedback on what works.

Week 2 - Brette works with you to choose two pieces of bespoke copy.

Week 3 and 4 - Brette will work with you to polish and perfect the copy the actors will be doing live/virtually for agents.

Week 5 - Your final class is an industry showcase where agents will be seeing you perform two unique :30 spots to 3 NY Commercial Agents.

Testimonials

Brette Goldstein's workshop was a tremendous experience. She takes all her industry, casting and acting knowledge and and generously presents it to her class in an energetic, caring, smart, funny, and thoughtful way that is uniquely Brette. Her honest critique is given with such love, support, and guidance that you have no choice but to walk away a better on-camera actor no matter where you started. Oh, yes, and she is LOL funny, too!

Catherine Ryan

Brette's fantastic at typing actors and helping them to key into who they are and how they are perceived. I loved that I got full scripts not just scenes, so I really felt that it was more like the actual audition process. She's also excellent at coaching and fine tuning your scene to perfect the audition. Her down to earth, no-nonsense description of the indie film business was immensely helpful and I would recommend this class to anyone who is interested in indies!

Kristen Riley

I just wanted to thank you for your class. I learned SOOOOO much. I am very green when it comes to film and I'm glad I was able to see myself on camera and I picked up so much watching you direct others and having you direct me. Also, I want to thank you for being so human and open with your thoughts on the business. I've recommended you to all my friends.

Salvador Chevez

I can't tell you enough how much I've enjoyed your classes. The feedback and adjustments that you've given, not only to me but to everyone, are sooooo insightful. You have helped me to get to another level.... thank you! My wife who has seen or read most of my scenes from your classes as well as past classes that I've taken at AC said 'SHE GETS YOU!.' She knows the scenes that you have given me are the kinds of scenes and characters that I want to play. So, thank you for 'GETTING ME!'

Ted Oyama

I think your class ROCKS and I am so glad I took it. You have such a positive way of saying things and you are so good at talking to actors. You never belittle, only encourage. Believe me, that is rare. Extremely. Thank you.
