Friday, October 10, 2014, 6pm ET / 3pm PT

This event is in the past.

Are you ready to add Comedy to your Acting career? Not sure how to get started? Then don't miss this fun, freedom Friday evening with professional commediene Sheilah Smiley who will help you develop your comedic voice and the ability to hear/listen to that voice, as well getting you comfortable with getting loose and having fun!

This Stand-Up Comedy workshop introduces the basics of organically allowing the space for humor or comedy to embody your work as an actor, comedian, or performing artist.

Sheilah will introduce you to the Stand-Up Comedy Formula that takes a person from 0 laughs to 100 laughs in seconds. This is a secret skill mastered by the most successful comics. Plus, students will be given bonus tips on how to develop their own unique comedic voice, while learning to listen to that voice to help develop a full comedy set. Over the course of three hours, you'll be working in group breakout sessions and some of you will be asked to demonstrate your newly learned skills as well as receiving on the spot feedback.

When you leave this workshop, you'll have TWO minutes of material that you will be able to use immediately in any way you choose-open mic nights, presentations, toasts, comedic monologue etc.

This intro workshop is for any and everyone who's interested in exploring stand-up comedy in a fun, supportive environment or those who are already doing stand-up, but feel stuck creatively. It's also for actors who want to develop a bolder, more confident voice and ready to invite humor into their work on an organic level.

This workshop is normally valued at $500, but because Sheilah loves AC, she's making this AMAZING deeply discounted offer to the first 30 actors who register for this class by August 25th!

LIMITED TO 15 actors!

***All participants will receive a discount to take Sheilah's 7 Week STAND-UP COMEDY Workshop!***

"Last night I took the Intro to Stand-Up Comedy Workshop with Sheilah Smiley. It was truly an amazing experience! I just wanted to share with you my experience and tell you that you should absolutely have Sheilah there more often! Last night was my first class at Actors Connection, as a NYC based actress who has done mostly film and television I found myself wanting to try something outside of the box. I also brought my aunt with me who is interested in trying stand up comedy and the both of us had a blast. Sheilah was fun, passionate, and we learned a lot in a short amount of time. As an actress I have a new way to approach monologues and auditions as well as now having a new perspective on humor and comedy which I hope to inject into my career and personal life." -Samantha Gelnaw
