Zoom: FREE Online SEMINAR - How to Be Ready When the Self-Tape Audition Arrives led by Roger Anthony, Professional Actor, Screenwriter, Director & Producer

Wednesday, October 21, 2026, 4pm ET / 1pm PT

Price: Free

Set Up. Prepare. Perform. Submit with Confidence.

The self-tape request hits your inbox—and suddenly the clock is ticking.

Do you have the right setup? Is your lighting working? Where should your reader be? Where should you look? What does casting actually want? And most importantly—are you spending your time worrying about the technical details instead of focusing on your performance?

In this practical online seminar, Roger will walk you through how to be ready before your next self-tape audition arrives—so you can spend less time scrambling and more time acting.

WHAT HE WILL COVER

You'll learn how to prepare both your performance and your self-tape environment, including:

  • Framing and camera placement

  • Choosing the right eyeline

  • Lighting and sound

  • Reader placement

  • Creating a clean, professional background

  • Making smart wardrobe choices

  • Following casting's self-tape instructions

  • Preparing and working your sides

  • Rehearsing without over-rehearsing

  • Working effectively with a virtual reader

  • Knowing when you need a reader—and when coaching can help

  • Making adjustments between takes without losing spontaneity

LIVE SELF-TAPE DEMONSTRATION

Roger will put it all into practice with a live self-tape demonstration.

An actor will perform a scene on camera while working with a professional reader via Zoom.

First Take: The actor performs the scene with the reader.

Coaching Adjustment: We'll identify one specific performance adjustment and work through it together.

Second Take: The actor performs the scene again, incorporating the adjustment.

You'll get to see the difference in real time—and learn how the right reader can do much more than simply feed you lines.

A skilled professional reader understands pacing, listening, timing, tone, energy and how to support your performance without competing with it. When coaching is needed, they can also help you identify beats, relationships, objectives, stakes and shifts within the scene.

BE READY BEFORE THE AUDITION ARRIVES

Self-tapes often come in with very little turnaround time. The goal of this seminar is to help you develop a repeatable process so that when the next audition arrives, you're not figuring everything out from scratch.

You'll know how to set up, prepare, find the right support and focus on what casting ultimately needs to see: your work.
