AC in LA! "Conquering Cold Reading" On-Camera with JORDAN BASS, Casting Director - Pilot Season Prep

Learn to book TV shows during Pilot Season in LOS ANGELES with this special one-night only class taught by Jordan Bass, LA Casting Director.

Jordan has cast the Starz drama "SPARTACUS: BLOOD & SAND", CW Seed's "BEERFEST", Nickelodeon's "DANCE ON SUNSET" and "BIG TIME RUSH" and much more (see bio below).

Each year, major American broadcast television networks like ABC, CBS, The CW, FOX, NBC, etc. – cast for their new TV shows, also known as "pilots".  Train with Jordan and focus on cold reading while learning about the busiest season for casting.

Students will be recorded ON-CAMERA and video clips will be made available after class. Actors are encouraged to playback each clip, consider the instructors feedback and evaluate your progress. Clips can be accessed online through your profile at actorsconnection.com and will be posted one-week following the class date.

 

 

 INSTRUCTOR LESSON PLAN
 

CLASS FORMAT:  
Group Q&A with Class Materials/Cold Sides Provided On-The-Spot By The Instructor for Scene Work

Students will learn:

• Opening: Short bio and introduction of instructor
   
• Question & Answer Session: Students are encouraged to ask any relevant questions about auditioning, self-taping, demo reels, headshots, or the ‘business’ in general. *Note: all answers reflect instructors specific opinions.
   
• Cold-Reading: Instructor will provide each student with a unique scene tailored to his/her ‘type’. Students will be given approximately 15 minutes to prepare the assigned scene. Each student will work one-on-one, reading the scene with teacher, and receive specific and constructive feedback. In a classroom setting, other students will watch the feedback and redirection in order to maximize the learning environment – students can learn just as much watching others work as they can from working themselves.
   
• Closing: Scenes are to be returned to the instructor. No headshots, resumes or promotional materials will be given to the instructor.

Jordan will provide feedback and/or re-directs whenever possible. He will not be taking the headshots, but actors should still bring them so he can provide feedback and comments on both pictures and resumes.
