5 Week Musical Theater WORKOUT
with Kimberly Vaughn
Tuesday, September 29, 2009, 2pm ET / 11am PT
This event is in the past.
Join Kimberly Vaughn for a musical theater class that will change the way you approach your audition process forever! Just like the gym, you need to exercise your acting and singing skills weekly so that you're always on top of your game! Work with Kimberly on your Broadway audition material. Perfect the tools that bring the essence of you---your unique "who am I"--- into your storytelling and insure that the lyrics live through you in every audition. Each week will cover lyric interpretation, audition protocol and songs that show personality, vocal range and story. In the 4th class, you'll simulate an audition, take adjustments and audition again. For the final class, you'll get to showcase your work that you've perfected in class to one of NY's top Agents or Casting Directors for Musical Theater. For the first class, please bring in 2 contrasting 16 bar cuts with lyrics and for the 2nd class, 2 contrasting 32 bar cuts with lyrics. For all classes, please bring your audition book, your picture and resume and please dress as you normally dress for auditions. Kimberly Vaughn is a Tony-Award nominated Broadway producer, Broadway performer, Regional director, Performance coach and teacher, whose clients work on Broadway, in National tours and Regional theatre! Dates: Tuesdays, September 29th, October 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th. PLEASE NOTE: October 27th class ONLY will be at 3pm. "My secret weapon!" -Tyler Hanes, Larry, A Chorus Line, Broadway "Here's a quick note to say how much I got out of Kimberly Vaughn's class. I have taken a handful of these musical theatre audition classes, and her's is the first I can truthfully say fulfilled its promise. She is patient, insightful, collaborative and very honest without ever bringing you down. I'm looking forward to re-enlisting in her class at Actors Connection. -Mark Lanham "Kimberly Vaughn uses her gifts of wisdom, experience and supreme intuition to evoke the gifts in her students. Her enthusiasm for teaching is refreshing and her passion for the artistic community contagious..." -Alaine Alldaffer, Casting Director Playwrights Horizons "Kimberly Vaughn helped me find my centre and confidence again at a low point for me. She has a unique understanding of the craft of acting and imparts her knowledge with ease and accessibility...two days after lesson number one I picked up my first theatre job in 4 months! Thanks again Kimberly!" -Euan Morton, Tony-Award nominated for Boy George in Taboo, Broadway "Kimberly is one of those teachers who "gets it." She understands the nature of performing and how it interacts with our humanness. I've watched her again and again take a performer and get them to think and feel from a place where they haven't been before, forgetting the room and people around them, resulting in magical moments that they will take with them into the audition room. She has totally transformed my work - and because of that - my life!" -Mary Mossberg, Mamma Mia! National Tour, The Baker's Wife, Paper Mill Playhouse
