Paul Weber is one of Hollywood’s most respected Casting Directors. As longtime Executive Head of Television Casting and Feature Film Consultant for MGM Studios, he effectively moved between both mediums with ease.

For series television, Weber most notably cast the wildly popular STARGATE franchise. Other TV credits include SPARTACUS:GODS OF THE ARENA, SHE SPIES, POLTERGEIST, DEAD LIKE ME, and THE OUTER LIMITS. These series and others have garnered numerous honors including 21 Primetime Emmy Award nominations.

For the big screen, Weber has advised on numerous MGM features including the blockbuster JAMES BOND franchise, FAME, ZOOKEEPER with Kevin James, HOT TUB TIME MACHINE, RED DAWN with Chris Hemsworth, Joss Whedon’s CABIN IN THE WOODS, and THE MACHINE starring Vin Diesel. Home entertainment credits include LEGALLY BLONDES, PICTURE THIS with Ashley Tisdale, INTO THE BLUE 2, WARGAMES, the SPECIES franchise, as well as the CUTTING EDGE franchise for ABC Family.

His 2-week online class will replicate the "real world" television/film audition process and give you insider industry tips to help you take your auditions and self-tapes to the next level.

EVENT OVERVIEW:

In your first week, you'll bring in a 1-2 minute scene of your choice to work on.

In your second week, you'll work on a scene assigned to you by Paul (assignments will be sent at least 24 hours in advance).

You'll start off with an informative Q&A, followed by your presentation of the scene with a reader on-camera in a group. Be prepared to take feedback and adjustments.

This class is for adults and teens (13+).
(Teens and Parents: Please note that some scenes/discussions will have adult language, themes and situations and you must be okay with this to take class.)

WHAT TO PREPARE:

For the first class please bring in your own scene of choice (no more than 2 minutes in length) that you feel best showcases your strengths as an actor. If you do not have your own scene, you can select a scene from the General Sides database (link located in your Actors Connection account upon registration).

Please email jess@actorsconnection.com your scene choice AS AN ATTACHMENT (file should be labeled YourName_CHARACTER) by 5pm (EST) the DAY BEFORE the event.

• The room will be open 30 minutes before the event is scheduled to start. Please arrive at least 10 MINUTES before your event begins as your host will give important information about the event at this time.

After Weber’s tenure with MGM, Weber and Assoc. Casting launched a production company with his producing partners, One on the Way Productions. Weber’s passion and purpose as a casting director and executive producer is to focus on developing and producing independent feature films and providing diverse opportunities in the new digital media space.

Weber currently casts and attaches star talent for top projects for NETFLIX, HULU, STARZ, A&E, WGN and LIFETIME He is also a consultant for several U.S., Canadian and European production companies, studios and networks.

Weber has a slate of projects in pre-production, post production or currently making their theatrical premieres. Titles include THE CURSE OF BUCKOUT ROAD, a supernatural thriller released in 2022. CRY FROM THE SEA starring Dominic Cooper and Aiden Quinn currently in production in Ireland, THE ISLAND BETWEEN TIDES, starring Donal Logue, filmed in British Columbia, Canada, and the film adaptation of R.L. Stine’s critically acclaimed children’s novel ZOMBIE TOWN, starring Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase, making its theatrical premiere in Sept, 2023 followed by a premier on Hulu in October, 2023 .

Weber is also the casting executive for the wildly popular immersive national stage production of THE QUEEN’S BALL: A BRIDGERTON EXPERIENCE for Netflix.

Weber is long standing member of the Casting Society of America and the Writers Guild of America, has served on the host committee for the annual Academy Awards, and is a recent judge for the Emmy Awards.

Coaching and giving back to actors and the entertainment community is important to Weber, which lead him to creating his sought after “Art of the Audition, Business of the Art, audition techniques class. Weber has taught at prestigious Liberal Arts Colleges and Universities all over the world. His teachings and lectures have taken him to Canada, London, Barcelona, Berlin, Rome, Warsaw, Prague, Zagreb, Lisbon, Sydney, Australia, South Africa and Cyprus.

Weber also speaks as an honored guest at top universities here in the states and teaches his mastery level audition class at prestigious institutions including USC, UCLA, Loyola Marymount, the University of Texas, Austin, University of Virginia, University of Connecticut, University of Arizona and Santa Fe College, Florida.

He is also a regular guest instructor at the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, and has been a guest speaker for the Rising Stars Program at the Toronto International Film Festival, as well as the prestigious SXSW Film Festival panel representing Film Casting Directors.
