New! Bringing to Life REAL Characters in Biopics - 5 Week Online Class with Chad Darnell, Director / Producer / Writer / Casting Director

Sunday, January 9, 2022, 1pm ET / 10am PT

This event is in the past.

Don't miss this exciting new online class taught by the multi-talented Chad Darnell where you will explore methods to research and develop performances based on real, biographical people in history.

For your first class, please come with a “real life” subject you wish to use to research and develop a performance.

Week One –“Going In”

Chad will discuss the tools available to use in crafting a performance based on a real life subject.  From books, interviews, and YouTube, he'll cover what to use and how to use it.

Week Two – “Building the World”

In your 2nd week, Chad will cover building the world of your character.  Using the information you’ve learned in discovery, go deeper to understand what was happening at that time in your character’s history, how it affected them, and why it informed their choices.

Here you will hone in on the “story” you will tell.

Week Three – “What was the Want?”

You’ve built the skeleton, now it's time to find its heart.  What motivated this character?  What was their need and their conflict?

You will discuss creating the piece you will perform in week five.

Week Four – Individual Conversations

Class will not meet together this week, but instead, each participant will have a 30 minute private Zoom conversation with Chad, discussing their subject and creation of their project.

Week Five – Showcase

You'll have the option to review and receive constructive criticism based on a five minute performance (to be uploaded prior to class).  Note material used in class is for educational purposes only.

Classes will last 2 hours per session, but extra time will be needed during the week for research and work.

Limited to 12 actors.

Please note that class will not meet on Sunday, January 30.
