Orion Martin has been working as a freelance writer, translator, and publisher for the past eight years. He also works at Brass Taxes providing tax preparation services to artists, freelancers, and other nice folks.
Topics to be discussed include:
How to make tax time suck less! (If that's too much) How to make tax time not quite so terrible and confusing!
We will go over how to track expenses and judge what's a legitimate business expense. Also how to estimate what you'll owe at tax time, whether to pay estimated taxes, and how a w-2 job interacts with any 1099 money.
We can also discuss when it may make sense to incorporate if you are moving to mostly w-2 work. We will give everyone a short take away about how to keep expenses categorized during the year and how to estimate what you'll owe on your untaxed income come tax time.
