After years of false starts, web series are finally hitting their stride. The advancement of video camera technology occasioned by the rise of DSLRs has given rise to high-quality low budget work, while the shifting television landscape has led networks and tech companies alike to invest meaningfully in web-based content. Web series like The Power Inside, The Outs, High Maintenance, Emma Approved and Whatever This Is are launching both acting and writing careers.

In today's free seminar, Jessica will cover:

-What ideas make a good web series or short film, -What web series you should be watching, -How to develop your scripts, -How to develop compelling characters that are right for you, -How to film on no budget or low-budget, -Shooting your project, and much more!

Jessica is a working writer, director, actress, and casting director. She feels working in multiple disciplines only strengthens her abilities. She's worked for a variety of production companies and casting directors, including Magnet Entertainment where she assisted on the film Adaptation. She graduated with her BFA in Drama from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and her MFA in Film from the Columbia Grad Film program. Many of her past projects have been honored in festivals and script contests. She also recently had a webseries she writes for optioned by the BET Network. Some other career highlights include: Semifinals in the Sundance Writers Lab, a Student Academy nomination, an Audience Choice Award in the Columbia Film Festival, and an award in the New York TV Festival (NYTVF). For the last few years she's worked as a Screenwriting Teacher and Script Doctor for a number of schools and companies. She is currently developing a new TV pilot, and two feature scripts.

She graduated with her BFA in Drama from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and her MFA in Film from the Columbia Grad Film program. For the last few years she’s worked as a Screenwriting Teacher and Script Doctor for a number of schools and companies.Most recently she has been a professor for screenwriting, directing, producing and directing actors for New York Institute of Technology, Hofstra University and Five Towns College. She is currently developing a new TV pilot and writing a feature script for an LA production company. She also does standup comedy and has performed all over NY and LA, including at many of the top comedy clubs.
