TOM ROWAN is the resident Casting Director for The Ensemble Studio Theatre, one of New York's most respected incubators of new plays. He also independently casts for a variety of local and regional theaters and is a director and playwright.
Recent projects: As Casting Director: NY casting for this summer's OTHELLO and AS YOU LIKE IT for the Nebraska Shakespeare Festival.
As Director: A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC for The Gallery Players, nominated for IT Award for Best Production of a Musical As Playwright: FAYE DRUMMOND at the Overtime Theater in San Antonio, TX TEARS OF A CLOWN in Red Bull Theatre's Short Play Festival THE BLUE DJINN in the Fresh Fruit Festival Ongoing: Casting Director for EST Casting Consultant for Queens Theatre
He has also done freelance casting for Austin Shakespeare, Bank Street Films, America-In-Play, Queens Theatre in the Park, etc. He has directed over sixty productions, most recently MASTER CLASS for The Gallery Players and THE MERCHANT OF VENICE for Stella Alder Studio. Other directing credits include the EST Marathon, Abingdon Theatre Company, Vital Theatre, Queens Theatre, Denver Civic Theatre, Avenue Theatre, and The Mirror Players. He was a Drama League Directing Fellow and has an MFA from the University of Washington, Seattle. Tom is also a playwright; his produced works include KISS AND CRY and THE SECOND TOSCA.
