Joey is currently working on several HUGE projects including: an Untitled Drama Pilot, a Marilyn Monroe mini-series for Lifetime, and the movie-musical, ONE SHOT, produced by and starring Topher Grace.

Previous credits at Barden/Schnee include: the features THE NEST, directed by Jason Moore, PITCH PERFECT 2, directed by Elizabeth Banks, GET ON UP directed by Tate Taylor, THE JUDGE starring Robert Downey Jr, and PRISONERS starring Hugh Jackman, and numerous indie features including BLEED FOR THIS, LIV, STILL ALICE, THE ADDERALL DIARIES, ALONE, BEIJING, NEW YORK, FINAL GIRLS, THE COBBLER, LIKE SUNDAY LIKE RAIN, THE MEND, ANGELICA, THE LAST OF ROBIN HOOD, & GABRIEL. Television credits at Barden/Schnee include Adult Swim's NEON JOE, WEREWOLF HUNTER and THE HEART, SHE HOLLER and Comedy Central's INSIDE AMY SCHUMER.

Joey's past experience includes working with Jen Rudin on the casting of numerous pilots during 2012's pilot season and with Bernie Telsey, Abbie Brady-Dalton and Tiffany Little Canfield at Telsey & Co on Season 1 of SMASH and A GIFTED MAN.

For this one night intensive, Joey will select sides based on your picture and resume which you will be emailed and prepare in advance. He will start off with an informative Q & A followed by your presentation of the scene with a reader ON-CAMERA in a group. Be prepared to take feedback and adjustments.

Currently, Joey is interested in meeting talent of all types and ethnicities 18+ for current and future projects.

Joey Montenarello

Joey Montenarello is a NY based Casting Director who casts for film and television. Coming off three years as the sole Casting Director responsible for spearheading the Film and TV arm at Stewart/Whitley, Joey has recently launched his own office, Montenarello Casting, where he will continue to cast and develop his current film projects.

Joey's current projects include the films STRESS TEST, directed by first-time filmmaker J.J. Woronoff, LOS VAMPIRES, directed by Craig Mitchell and the US Casting for ENTROPY, directed by Lola Atkins.

He just completed casting of THE DUTCHMAN, directed by Andre Gaines, as well as THE BIRD AND THE BEE, directed by Justin Kelly and starring Alicia Silverstone.

Recent credits include casting the films Parachute (SXSW 2023), Malum, Daughter of the Bride, Holly Jolly, All You Need Is Blood, The Snare, They/Them/Us, and Death Saved My Life.  

Prior to his time spent at Stewart/Whitley, Joey spent six years as Associate Casting Director at Barden/Schnee Casting, where he cast numerous projects including: FILM: Spotlight, Leave No Trace, Still Alice, Clemency, Timmy Failure, Pitch Perfect 2 & 3, The Girl on the Train, Sisters, Ma, The Upside, Galveston, The Boy Downstairs, Get on Up, Prisoners; TELEVISION/NEW MEDIA: 13 Reasons Why (Pilot - Netflix), Jessica Jones (Season 1 - Netflix), The Last OG (Season 1 - TBS), Girlboss (Netflix), Good Girls Revolt (Amazon), Queen America (Facebook Watch), Bonding (Netflix). 

Joey is also an eight time Artios Award Nominee, having most recently been nominated in the Micro Budget category for his work on the film They/Them/Us.

Joey began his career as an intern at Telsey + Co, before becoming a Casting Assistant on the Television shows Smash and A Gifted Man. Joey also freelanced as an Assistant to Jen Rudin on the casting of various TV pilots, feature films and commercials.
