NEW on Monday Nights! BROADWAY BOUND - 3 Week MUSICAL THEATER Class with Duncan Stewart, CSA, Broadways' ON THE TOWN, CHICAGO and much more!
Monday, September 15, 2014, 7pm ET / 4pm PT
This event is in the past.
Always sold out, this is a chance for you and Duncan to delve into your new/old repertoire and really take your songs & audition material to the next level! We are thrilled to have Duncan teaching this NEW 3-week class at AC.
Believing that there is no 'one way' to approach a song or actor, Duncan focuses in on the acting/story-telling within a song and gives unique and personalized feedback to each individual in the class. THIS IS A CLASS WHERE THE TEXT WITHIN THE SONG REIGNS SUPREME. Pushing past the ' simply singing tunes and melodies', Duncan breaks down your songs – breathing new life and inspiring choices into the work.
The class will focus on a variety of songs to use for appointment auditions but the techniques learned and developed are applicable to any cut of music. Be prepared to learn new music and work on a weekly basis incorporating feedback from the week before.
By the end of this class, you should be ready to kill any audition in these 3 genres, which clearly are all necessary for today's Musical Theater market.
Duncan will be working with all different styles including traditional, contemporary and pop musical theater. Please bring your ENTIRE book, picture and resume and, for the first class, please have your number one audition song ready to go! The first week, Duncan will be focusing on TRADITIONAL songs, week 2 being POP and week 3 being CONTEMPORARY.
TESTIMONIALS:
"Duncan loves what he does and love performers. He's extremely positive and encouraging and he's a great coach! This is not a typical class. Duncan helps actors get past the need to impress or perform and reminds us to act and be truthful. Duncan creates a safe space to try things and make mistakes." -James Beaman
"Duncan has a brilliant ability to simplify and strengthen each individual performer. He asks questions you weren't aware you needed to answer. He welcomes mistakes because that's how you grow." -L. VanWinkle
"Duncan is wonderful, open, and honest." -M. Hogan
