MeskadaNew! ADVANCED Film Intensive with Josh Sternfeld, Writer/Director

2:00 pm - Here's a RARE opportunity to meet and work with one of NY's TOP Film directors!

Get ready to work as this intensive is structured to fine-tune your film audition skill set and help you book that next role! For this event, Josh will provide you with a variety of scenes to choose from a few days before the intensive. You are to prepare one scene that you feel represents you. For the intensive, you'll start off with a Q&A, and then Josh will begin working with you with a reader, on-camera, in a group format. Be prepared for feedback and adjustments as Justin will coach and critique your work, tweak your material and share invaluable information.

Josh Sternfeld studied filmmaking at NYU Graduate Film School, where he wrote and directed the award‐winning short film Balloons, Streamers. The film screened at the 1997 New York Film Festival, 1998 Sundance Film Festival, and was distributed by the Sundance Channel and Canal +, where it broadcast from 1999‐2002. After completing his degree, Josh worked as an editor for Steeplechase Films, on the Emmy‐nominated PBS series New York: A Documentary Film. Concurrent with the series, Josh wrote his first feature screenplay Winter Solstice. He developed the script at the Sundance Screenwriters Lab, and directed the film in 2003; starring Anthony LaPaglia, Allison Janney, Michelle Monaghan and Mark Webber. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was acquired by Paramount Classics, who released it internationally in April 2005. In 2008 Josh wrote and directed Meskada, a police drama set in upstate New York. The film stars Nick Stahl, Rachel Nichols, Kellan Lutz and Norman Reedus; it premiered at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival. Inferno Entertainment handled foreign sales, Red Flag Releasing acquired North American theatrical rights, and Time Warner Home Entertainment released it Video‐On‐Demand in December 2010. Additional information at meskada.com.

Josh recently completed his next screenplay My Bare Hands, a surreal Father/Son fantasy into the world of Alzheimer's disease. He plans to move into production late 2012. In addition to his filmmaking, Josh teaches directing and screenwriting at NYU Film School, Tisch School of the Arts.
