Always busy, Todd's recent credits include the indie feature STANO, starring Joe Manganiello and Sophia Vergara, and the soon to be released GOING PLACES, written, directed by, and starring John Turturro. His recent film casting credits include: FADING GIGOLO directed by John Turturro and starring Sofi­a Vergara, Liev Schreiber, and Sharon Stone, and CLUTTER starring Natasha Lyonne, Kathy Najimy and Carol Kane.

For this event you may pick from Todd's online scenes once you've registered, or bring in a 2-3 page film/TV scene of your choice. You are to prepare one scene that you feel represents you.

The evening starts off with an informative Q&A, and then Todd will work with you on-camera with a reader in a group format. This is an exceptional opportunity to show your work and be coached by an extraordinary casting director. Be prepared for feedback and to take adjustments on the fly.

Todd Thaler has cast numerous feature films including: Sidney Lumet's RUNNING ON EMPTY with River Phoenix, Luc Besson's THE PROFESSIONAL with Natalie Portman, LITTLE CHILDREN with Kate Winslett, and POLLOCK with Ed Harris and Oscar-winner Marcia Gay Harden.

Other credits include: Barbra Streisand's THE MIRROR HAS TWO FACES, James Foley's PERFECT STRANGER, both Stacy Cochran's MY NEW GUN and BOYS, Irwin Winkler's NIGHT AND THE CITY, John McNaughton's MAD DOG & GLORY, Gavin O'Connor's TUMBLEWEEDS, John Turturro's MAC, ILLUMINATA, ROMANCE & CIGARETTES, both James Mangold's HEAVY and COP LAND, and both Wayne Wang's BECAUSE OF WINN-DIXIE and MAID IN MANHATTAN. For television, ARE WE THERE YET?, Peter Berg's short-lived WONDERLAND, and the NBC comedy, ED, for which he was nominated for the Emmy Award.

Todd is currently adjunct faculty teaching on-camera acting and auditioning at NYU's New Studio on Broadway, Atlantic Theater School, Stella Adler School of Acting, and Brooklyn College.

Todd Thaler

Todd Thaler’s credits as a Casting Director date back to 1986, but he started as a Production Assistant for Rollins, Joffe, Morra & Brezner, a company known for producing the films of Woody Allen, and managing the careers of such clients as Robin Williams, David Letterman and Billy Crystal.  Soon after, he was assigned the position of Extras Casting Director, something he did on 14 of Mr. Allen’s films, while establishing his own casting company. 

As a Casting Director, his credits include Luc Besson’s Leon: The Professional, Todd Field’s Little Children, Sidney Lumet’s Running on Empty, Ed Harris' directorial debut Pollock, Barbra Streisand’s The Mirror Has Two Faces, James Foley’s Perfect Stranger, Stacy Cochran’s My New Gun, Boys, and Drop Back Ten, Irwin Winkler’s Night and the City, John McNaughton’s Mad Dog and Glory, Gavin O'Connor's Tumbleweeds, John Turturro’s Mac, Illuminata, Romance & Cigarettes, and Fading Gigolo, James Mangold’s Heavy and Cop Land, and Wayne Wang’s Because of Winn-Dixie, Maid in Manhattan, and A Thousand Years of Good Prayers. Over the years, he has also cast many projects for television, including Peter Berg’s short-lived but brilliant Wonderland, and the NBC comedy, Ed, for which he was nominated for the Academy of Television Arts and Science’s Emmy Award.

In addition to private acting coaching, he also teaches at NYU/Tisch’s New Studio on Broadway, The Stella Adler School, and the Atlantic Theatre Acting School.  Todd was active in the successful effort to unionize Casting Directors with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
